Jørgen Bæk Simonsen

Jørgen Bæk Simonsen, dr.phil., is a senior lecturer emeritus at the Department for Cross-Cultural and Regional Studies, University of Copenhagen. He is a former director of the Danish Institute in Damascus. Since his dissertation Studies in the Genesis and Early Development of the Caliphal Taxation System (1988) he has written numerous books and articles on problems of the Middle East and Islam.
