Jørgen S. Nielsen, Professor Emeritus, University of Birmingham, UK, and Affiliated Professor, Faculties of Theology and Humanities, University of Copenhagen, Denmark. After studies in Arabic, Islamic Law and ME Studies in London and Beirut and a PhD from the American University in Beirut, Jørgen S. Nielsen taught at Selly Oak Colleges and University of Birmingham, focusing on Islam in Europe. Jørgen S. Nielsen is a former Director of the Danish Institute in Damascus and a former Professor of Islamic Studies at the Faculty of Theology at the University of Copenhagen.
